Walnut Ink, Grease Pencil, Watercolor & Heat Emboassing on Watercolor Paper, 2018

This piece was inspired by The Sacred Tree - a motif that has appeared throughout history and across cultures around the world. The Sacred Tree, or Tree of Life, can be interpreted as a symbol of resilience - it has existed for eternity, withstanding wars, floods, famine, and countless other disasters. In reality, trees form the core of whole ecosystems - they are habitats, they bear fruit, and make air breathable.
We owe so much to trees, and we have so much in common. We also provide for each other, we shelter each other, and we help make life easier for each other. We are strong, we are resilient, the same as the Tree of Life.
